Flooring Options

Hardwood Flooring (Available in Solid or Engineered):
The choice of woods in this category - extensive oak, maple, birch, have always been favourites. The choice of wood flooring is often influenced by existing colour schemes and wood work in the home. Keep in mind that the harder woods are always better for high traffic areas.

Exotic Woods (Available in Solid or Engineered):
For distinctive homes and offices, exotic woods are elegant choices that create a unique look. Choose from Mahogany, Santos Mahogany, Brazilian Cherry, Sapele (an African wood) or Bamboo. Rome Flooring continually strives to keep up with the most current trends in wood flooring. Ask about their continually expanding choice of woods.

Parquet Flooring:
It was very popular for residential use in the 1970s and 1980s. Today, it has been mostly replaced by hardwood flooring. Parquet flooring comes in nineteen inch squares which are glued to a sub floor or cement. For this reason, parquet flooring is a good choice for basements, rec rooms, dance floors or other recreational sites. It is easy to install and maintain and is available as a prefinished product.

Cork Flooring:
It is a good choice for kitchens or recreational rooms. It has a cushioning effect and adds a feeling of warmth. It can be glued to cement or a sub floor.

Laminate Flooring:
Laminate flooring can be compared to the material used in kitchen counters. It is a laminated plastic product that is very durable. It can be glued to the sub floor, or left unanchored, becoming a floating floor. Laminate flooring is long-wearing in high traffic residential areas such as entranceways, kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms. This type of flooring is an excellent choice for businesses, such as beauty salons, restaurants and retail stores. It is resistant to household chemicals, knocks, scratches and has a higher resistance to moisture.

Revitalize your floors with a "buff and recoat." A buff and recoat involves light sanding of the top layer of the flooring. No wood is removed during the sanding process and only a small amount of the old finish. Following the light sanding, either one or two coats of varathane are applied. The result is a floor that is restored to its original beauty.

This process accomplishes the following:

  • Extends the life of your floors.
  • Takes little time and is cleaner than a complete sanding process.
  • Cost effective.

The professionals at Rome Flooring are experts in all aspects of floor installation and refinishing. They can assist and advise you on the following:
